Job Description
The Continuing Education and Extended Studies team is seeking a GED Preparation Contract Instructor. The GED Preparation Preparation Instructor will work with students at various academic levels in one classroom. Applicants must feel comfortable working in a classroom with adults of all abilities and backgrounds.

Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Teach basic skills encompassing math, science, social studies and language arts;
  • Plan and implement activities and instructional strategies to meet adult student needs;
  • Select appropriate learning materials;
  • Plan individual and group activities;
  • Use Open Education Resources (OER) resources when available and applicable;
  • Teach desirable work habits and study skills;
  • Assess students’ readiness to take exams;
  • Support students in scheduling GED exams;
  • Create a positive environment in which students may feel emotionally and physically secure;
  • Help students improve their critical-thinking, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom;
  • Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
  • Work with program administrators to ensure initiatives are being met;
  • Participate in cultural event and activities with students;
  • Maintain student attendance and report to Program Administrator.
